If You Could Design The Official Bunnymen Website

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

The only way that the official site will move forward is to deliver news more quickly as well as offering freebies that nobody else (including this forum) would be able to offer, like free music downloads (demos), unpublished pics. Otherwise any one with a bit of time and effort could set up their own site: Look I have already done one!

Where's the forums?
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Well you remember Jack was looking for an obscure Echo & the Bunnymen forum to retreat to. Sadly for you I'm not going anywhere. Unless asked of course and even then I'll come back as not_black_francis

Unfortunately, the forum was shut down due to repeat postings by myself with such topics as the "Name your favourite Will Sergeant t-shirt" poll, "Which album is the best? Ballyhoo The Best of Echo & The Bunnymen, More Songs to Learn and Sing The Very Best of Echo & The Bunnymen, The Killing Moon The Best of Echo & The Bunnymen, Das Beste Von Echo & The Bunnymen (rare German pressing), Le Meilleur de Echo & The Bunnymen (French special edition), etc"

I also hurled abuse at myself in regards to my personal habits, and I was also easily offended about certain topics that I was posting. So it left me with no other alternative but to close it down.

Still, it was a good ride while it lasted. A crazy, wonderful ride.

Hi all..a newcomer here but an infrequent visitor to the "official" board in it's various incarnations and a fan of, blimey, almost 30 years standing. What an excellent resource this place is.

Seems like I'm amongst like-minded folk here regarding the other site. I gave up on that place some time ago not because of inane postings (you get those on all forums) but because of what appeared to be a pretty dismissive attitude from the webmaster as well as a lack of ability/interest in developing the site to a level that the band's stature and it's fans deserve.

There are plenty of fan sites, superbly run and vibrant, that have eventually become "official" sites if that's what folk here want. But at the end of the day is it that important to be officially sanctioned? What is annoying, if you care about the band and it's legacy though, is that visitors to the official site are often appalled at it's amateurishness. Not so long ago I introduced the band's music to some friends of my son. They were all in a band and I figured they'd love the Bunnymen's music which thet did. Naturally they all hit the site and unanimously declared it to be a dead loss.

What the band and management really don't grasp is that, these days, the quality of your web presence is essential to your profile and hence how many folk are going to pay to watch you perform and how many cds you are going to sell. For a band that always fostered an image of coolness sadly the official site is as uncool as it gets.

This place though is great

Despite some of us being more bitchy than others about the state of the official site, Mac's voice, etc we all want the Bunnymen to succeed. It just seems safer to voice those concerns here than at the official site.

Actually, I think it's forbidden to voice any concerns on the official website other than

"I hope Mac shaves for the tour. He looks so scruffy! (oops, can I say "scruffy"?)
and
"Why doesn't Mac get contacts? I miss his pretty eyes"
