Crystal Days is a cool collection but I kind of wish they had set it up more like a traditional boxset, mine has sort of fallen apart.

I'd go for the first four plus reverberation for a sign of what might have been (smiley face). The albums work as albums, i.e. not just collections of songs - which is lost on the 'boxset', though I quite like that for the extras/ 12" versions of singles - in particular Killing Moon. I mean why would you not want to listen to heaven up here from start to finish? It would be madness not to do that. Or Ocean Rain if you want something a bit gentler I spose

I wouldn't bother, it'll save you the crushing disappointment of realising how shit they've become since they reformed.

On the other hand it'll make you realise how great they were in their heyday.

Post reform get Evergreen, look out for the 2CD version with John Peel sessions.

Evergreens shows how good the comeback was and the potential for greater things. Although I like WYGDWYL I feel there has been a general decline since Evergreen and some of the later albums I have to admit I skip tracks.

First of all I am actually feeling optimistic about the new album.

Secondly is it me or do lots of the songs from Flowers sound like they would be more interesting if sung in Mac's 1980's voice? Let's face it never stop in the 80's was a cracker now it's a little flat.

Let's face it the words were no better then than they are now, they just sounded more vital.

I suppose we just have to accept that they are never going to match those first four albums. I've tried to like the new albums, I really have, but I just can't get into them at all. I can't see myself playing Evergreen, etc., ever again, to be honest. On the other hand, I play Crocs or Porcupine for the first time in ages and they still blow me away. The bunnymen lost the creative genius that produced those first four albums thirty odd years ago. They are a still an excellent live band, I'll always go and watch them, but I won't be rushing to buy the garden of meedin when it gets released; I'll see what you lot have to say about it first. :wink:
