F*cking wake up

The Poltergeist tracks that are currently posted on the internet are totally shit.

Wake up people don't just like some music because of who has made it. Its just self indulgent shite.

Personally, I think they are alright, not breathtakingly fantastic, and await to see what the mixed versions sound like. But if your remaining interest in the Bunnymen of today consists of anything coming from Will that features his guitar playing then that's fine (coupled with Les playing the bass). I enjoyed Things Inside immensely (better though than these Poltergeist tracks). Certainly piss on the proper self indulgent shite that is anything recently recorded that includes Mac or is by Mac though. I for one will be getting me a white cane and guide dog in due course.

well i'll wait and see. I like the trippy start bit of that new one but then it goes into the kind of stuff i spoent most of the 70s trying to avoid. and i'll probably buy it because some time in the last ten years or so i seem to have turned into some sad completist. fortunately with buns related stuff its mostly quite cheap.

One thing I don't like is the mix, it's just too clear, modern. Kind of think these would be better lo-fi, maybe done on an 8-track or something so it goes with the almost 70s sound. That would be epic on vinyl.

that first section reminds me of something and i have a feeling its the title music from Callan, though it may be some band or other.

this wasn't bad till that big explosion at the end - felt like a fresh Carnage Visors by The Cure

or deaf.

i thought they were mediocre as well.

prefer that acoustic album over any of this other solo stuff - Poltergeist + that dreadful psuedo 60's Emerald Green Eyes thing.

The first sample, if that's what you mean, yeah it does sound like the Callan theme tune (or something John Barry), bit of a trademark Will guitar riff that he pretty much does all the time now and then the percussion transforms it into an out-take of Stormy Weather before fading out. Don't know if that is a good or a bad thing, but hey ho, it's an unmixed sample. The second one starts off well, but it goes a bit weird as withahip has already said. Different to what we usually hear from Will though.

was meaning the first half of the latest one and before it does what hip says. speaking of things inside, listen to that quite a bit, its in my noodling without any singers list i have on when working and pretending i dont want to be distracted.

Yeah, that's a problem I have with most of Will's new stuff. It sounds too clear, too digital/Pro Tools. But I tend to like more lo-fi approaches to guitar/rock recordings.

I really like the beginning of the new song, the guitar is awesome, not a fan of the drums and not sure what i think of the second half of the song, sounds sort of out of place. Maybe a producer would help, dunno.
