Joe-eatb wrote:Man the band sounds as great as ever, there is a big amount of Bunnymen bashing on this sight and sometimes it is justified. But when they sound as good as the last three live shows we should all give them the praise they deserve. So even if I was not at these concerts I just want to say great job Ian, Will and the rest of the Bunnymen keep it up and maybe some of the people on this forum will say your great again.

I am pretty sure people here do give kudos when it is deserved. We all want to see the band do well and Ian healthy.

blinkilite wrote:the new york show (may 1) was brilliant. The faster songs especially (the cutter, back of love, do it clean etc) they were really tight and had the crowd going. One of the best performances by the bunnymen that I have ever seen... possibly the best US performance that I have seen. Mac sounded great and was in a great mood. Loved it, and had a great time.

Looks like they are back in business live wise. Makes such a difference chucking in stuff like Do It Clean, which really shouldn't have ever been dropped from the setlist. Atmosphere and sound does remind me of the Flowers gig I attended here in the UK, what ten years ago. Looks promising for the UK December dates.

They have a really great keyboard player who really has the hang of the Ray Manzarek parts in Bedbugs and Ballyhoo.

Will is awesome.

There's something positive. :)
I long for the pork of Porcupine. (A slide show dedicated mostly to Will right here.... http://www.examiner.com/rock-music-in-l ... -here-tour)

Watching the "Do it Clean" video has made my mind up. If they can keep that standard up I'm going to their next concert in the UK. As the creator of the "Fountain of Vomit" album cover, that has to be taken seriously.

Sounds like sick4tunez has been talking about Fight Club again.

I was going to ask if they met Walter. I think he was attending the NYC shows.

Yes, I was at both shows. Watched them unload their gear and the roadie confirmed the fight club scene in CT. I got to touch Ian's fan that he loves to play footsie with on stage!! Sold out show Saturday (1100 people capacity), not so on Sunday (600 in attendance).

Ian sounded good both nights, perhaps even better Sunday night (or was it that I had a few extra shots of tequila at the bar before taking out my flask). The rest of the band always sounds great (still 1984 great!). I missed the after party in Brooklyn Saturday night (my friend had chemo therapy a few days earlier and was not up to it). We waited at the back stage door for the band to come out. I shook Will's hand and thanked him for his performance. He recognizes me already. Ian tried sneaking out the front entrance but we caught him, also shaking his hand in thanks for a great show. On Sunday night they had an after party at the Beauty Bar just a block away from the theater where Will DJ'ed and I met Gordy, Stephen and Jez. I got Gordy's set list Sunday night which the 4 signed.

I recorded both shows and the quality is excellent based on my preliminary check. I'm still having conflict over the whole recording thing: get the best quality recording (i.e., just shutting up and acting like a mic stand) or simply enjoying the show (dancing wildly and singing). But when they play I just have to let myself go. I was one of the people standing in front of Blinkilite jumping up and down Saturday night. There are parts where I'll be heard singing along with Ian. I've got so much on my plate (including downloading the Coachella shows) that it will take a few days.

A bonus prize was finding PiL's 1983 Live In Tokyo show on CD in a hole in the wall record shop. That will be the warm up act to a future Saturday night virtual concert with the Bunnymen played on the truck stereo.
