With all the cell phones with cameras and video I sure hope something turns up on this!

Also from the venues Facebook page:

Fun fact for those who were at the show last night: the mic stand that vocalist Ian McCulloch kept complaining about was a stand brought by the band. -zack

It wasn't easy to take pictures, let alone video, as they were on top of us from the start.

This is a totally different accounting of the events than the other reports. It doesn't even sound like Ian punched this guy or that they didn't finish the song or concert.

I doubt any charges will be filed. However, if there's a court case, I'll be there with bells on for the trial!

Amazing. The intertubes is abuzz with details about Mac for once. What better PR could the man ask for? I think Dr Cheese is right about this - it should be an integral part of future Bunnymen gigs purely to grab the headlines. A fight with the audience. The band's management could organise some "hecklers" ready for Mac to lay into later on during the set. Mac could do one of those acting punches with the punched wearing fake blood. A bit of mascara for a false black eye. Beats the 1980s camo look or Drummond-inspired invite-only mystery dates in Outer Mongolia. I volunteer for some of the UK dates.

That's shit. I wanna see blood, teeth and sweat flying everywhere. Mac walking back onto stage dusting himself down and lighting up a ciggie with the band breaking into Do It Clean while paramedics try to "resuscitate" the "hecklers" at the side of the stage.

I reckon Mac should invest in one of these:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kE88aRsOgR4&hl=en_GB&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kE88aRsOgR4&hl=en_GB&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
And you know that I'll pick up
Every time you call
Just to thank you one more time

One photo of a sprawled Ian:

Number 107:

Also:

Just back from seeing Echo and the Bunnymen at my local FTC venue in Fairfield CT...interesting night for right and wrong reasons.....band was generally good but Mac was intent on picking a fight with various members of the crowd. The venue holds about 250 and the stage is only 2ft off the deck- so right at the end this one guy had heard enough and jumped on the stage and filled him in....

They were near the end of Lips Like Sugar as the encore, Mac staggers to his feet, more worried about his sunnys than anything else, mumbles something like "I should pick on someone smaller next time" and "I thought I was back in England for a minute there"...Will Sargent just stood with a dropped jaw and Mac just continues as if nothing had happened!

Given Mac's past history with hecklers I'm not surprised there was a little bit of a fracas if the venue was like that. Christ, look how close the audience were from the stage. That really wasn't a good idea for a venue at all.

The original posts implied that Ian went over to the guy and punched him in the face. The photo shows clearly, however, that the guy went to him.

In any case, it got Ian to remove his hands from the mic stand. Good job.

If I was to rush the stage, I'd grab for the rips in his smelly looking jeans and give a really hard pull. Hopefully the jeans would just tear right off.
