the ghost of guitarplayer wrote:Sounds about right. If I recall, I think Mac did something or other on A Rush of Blood to the Head back in 2002 (maybe made suggestions in production on a couple of tracks rather than perform with them) that then led Martin and Jonny Buckland to appear on Slideling (Martin and Buckland on Sliding and Martin on the old joanna on Arthur). Coldplay did a cover of Lips Like Sugar live in 2002 (appeared they played it again in Liverpool in 2008). But that's where it all ended. I thought The Fountrain was supposed to feature Martin but as I never bought it I have no idea as to what was in the sleeve notes. A load of one-sided PR baloney perhaps?
the ghost of guitarplayer wrote:Ha. I checked out those Ritch Kids on myspace out of curiosity - utter French shite music bollocks. Still, that squeaky blonde singer might be interesting with a name like Laytitia. An intriguing name. Mon dieu!
Dr Evil wrote:Before I knew better I'd have probably agreed with you and added that all French bands were a bunch of pretentious garlic eating wankers and indeed that all Europeans were a pale imitation of English and American bands- but whilst I have no doubt the Rich Kids come under that category, go to a Francois and the Atlas Mountains gig and prepare to be astounded -or Uncle Jellyfish, though I think they might be from Belgium.
Francois's English girlfriend is a pretty cool singer as well.

Hearing Francois and the Atlas Mountains, not really my cup of tea. I don't mind (and I stress mind rather than like) Nouvelle Vague for example. Air is another one. However, there is always an exception to the few good bands. Generally, I find French bands and French music awful. Having lived and socialised with our snail munching cousins for a while a few years back, and despite me having an avatar of Charles de Gaulle, I find them an odd bunch of people and some are downright annoying. Still, I'm always partial for a blonde chick even if French. That Laytitia badly reminds me of a couple of girls I used to know a few years back.

Their music may be shite at times but they know how to live ... Their train system is 1 million times better than ours and when they build something they build it with a bit of style ..
my main gripe is that some one should tell the grannies it is time to stop dressing up .
Oh then I went to Lisbon and fuck me that city is imperssive
(this was all with work)
