Clearly, he has been trying to capture the infidel.. I mean the American... market as well.

What the #### is that "z" doing in Americanized? Every civillised person on the planet knows it should be an "s" as in Americanised!!

EATB's popularity was a result of college station airplay and regular airplay in major city centers where the stations switched to playing new music and music that came up through the indie and video scene. They were also regularly played on video shows, though the record company thought their videos were crap when they were actually cool. What was so great about them was that conscious effort to create "music from outer space".

Even the grey album was good, just overproduced with too much synth, cymbals and extra shit. They were in there somewhere and it's revealed in the demo versions. I feel better after hearing those. Even we American fans noticed that their sound was being hijacked.

There is no way to recreate what happened in the 80s. If only someone had been able to come in and help them out, get them back on track in 1988. If they had been with Eno instead of who they got. If they had compromised with each other and someone had told the record company to f off and let them do things their way their would have been a great album in 1990 instead of what actually happened.

PS Evergreen is beautifully melodic, especially in the bass and guitars. The violins are lilting as opposed to insistent as it would have been on Ocean Rain.

There's two L's and an S in civilized? That's three things I've learned from Dr. Cheese this morning.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

No one wants them to recreate the 80s. We want them to be creative.

But our women let us wear Batman capes in the house so it evens out in the end.

But will they let you wear one with an accompanying VT crotchless g-string?

Gives up trying to impress England? Ha, ha, ha, I love the Onion. It's unfortunate, but the problem is that the world is all to willing to be Americanized. The Bunnymen were the last holdouts, caving in to the pressure with release of The Fountain. Now all is lost. Next Ian will be doing a duet with Bono on the Jay Leno show, after which Bono will comment on the rough quality of Ian's voice, saying that he now knows where he lost the colostomy bag he was given years ago. In line with the Onion, I'm only kidding!

I was mainly referring to the mechanism behind their popularity then, not so much the music.

Creativity in the music would be great. Please let him listen to something besides what's on his iPod these days. I hear it's all Abba and Neil Diamond. Wait, does he even have an iPod? Walkman I think.

I don't get how the Fountrain is "Americanized." American music to me is Glory Days, Little Pink Houses and Woody motherfucking Guthrie. Gershwin, Copeland.

American music to me is Pere Ubu and Devo. And of course Seales and Croft. A song so bad that this video doesn't actually have the song in it.
