Do you think you could Manage the Bunnymen Better

In KoK's defense it's obvious that (rightly or wrongly) he felt a great let down regarding a band he truly loves and has acted out accordingly. I was in a similar situation in which I felt let down (purely made up in my head) by the band and I let it affect my attitude for about a year or two and even to this day take a harder stance in regards to my favorite band ever.

The Bunnymen have a way of making you crazy. That's for damn sure or none of us would be here still.

you do have to laugh when you look at all these fiery posts on both sites for a band who's prime could be argued to have ended in 1984.

Sometimes it's luck and chance.

The Buns were in several good 80s teen flicks which usually does something, and did do quite a bit for others that were on the soundtracks.

Lost Boys:
I love their version of People Are Strange, but it didn't get them noticed as much as having had something like Nocturnal Me in there also. Way better song than "Cry Little Sister" that became the theme. That song never charted as a single, but the album got to #15.

Pretty In Pink:
Good. Bring on the Dancing Horses was something of a hit, but not as much as Pretty In Pink by Psychedelic Furs. That album was #4 (US Billboard Hot 100). OMD did really well with If You Leave.

If they had gotten in with the major theme song of something that really worked for their style when it was earlier in their career, it might have gone differently. If the WB network had been around, they certainly would have found it into those teen angsty shows. They would have been PERFECT for Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Dawson's Creek. Or maybe if they had been on the soundtrack to Breakfast Club...

They were *so* close in the US and they certainly had big influence on people who were really into music. They were, at least, a big deal in LA. :)

I'm bloody glad they didn't, can't imagine them doing a Simple Minds back then... now, maybe, but back then no.

I am glad for that too actually. I loved how dark they were. Even when vaguely hopeful or mostly melodic it was still kind of dark except Lips Like Sugar. That should have been a big hit. Can't figure out why it wasn't.

That is interesting actually:

A band whose roots date back even earlier in modern rock history than Foo Fighters draws its first Billboard chart ink in 12 years. Liverpool's Echo and the Bunnymen debut at No. 39 on Hot Singles Sales (viewable at billboard.biz) with "Think I Need It Too." The act last charted with "I Want to Be There (When You Come)," a No. 26 hit on Alternative Songs in 1997. The Ian McCulloch-led band releases its 11th studio album, "The Fountain," featuring a collaboration with Coldplay's Chris Martin, Tuesday (Oct. 13).

How does that work then as there seems to be a plethora of US charts? What is the Hot 100 single sales and does it have any bearing on what would be the US equivalent of the UK official Top 40 singles chart? I'm confused.
