The albums a grower indeed.

Aint as bad as many are making out I dont think.

Theres only really Proxy and the Idolness of Gods which are a bit bland imo.

WS: Yeah, well Siberia was more of a joint effort again. We are definitely at our best when we work together.
ME: So is the new one similarly collaborative?
WS: (sigh) Not really. The new one is probably a bit more Mac than me again.
ME: Oh dear. So are you not too happy?
WS: Well, I’ve done some really nice guitars on this one and it’s a lot, lot better than What Are You Going To Do With Your Life. But I don’t think I’ve ever made an album I’m really happy with.
ME: Ha-ha.
WS: You can never really achieve musically. You do what you can, you spend ages in the studio and then it still doesn’t sound right.
ME: That’s a bit depressing
WS: Maybe it is. I think I’ve probably been depressed all me life.
ME: So, is there a lot of tension in the studio?
WS: Not really. Singers always tend to get their own way because they can shout and scream the loudest. You just put up with it in the end because it’s not worth the hassle.
ME: Is the new stuff sounding very different to the last album?
WS: (shrugs) Probably not. Well, I think it sounds slightly different but it probably just sounds the same.

I feel the same as Will. Cool.

That is like asking the guy at the factory if he hates it so much, why doesn't he just quit.
Food. Family.

Inability to make boats instead.

On the one hand I don't like people talking sh*t about Will, but on the other hand I'm a big fan of that WAAHmbulance joke. I'm very conflicted.

It's not bad, it's not good, it just is.
Insipid blandness with Will on autopilot for 90% of the album. It would have been a great Mac solo release but as a Bunnymen album it's toothless.

I don't have a fringe, greying or otherwise, and a mediocre Bunnymen album certainly doesn't make me weep!

I bet Will wants to quit but then Ian asks, "What are you going to do with your life?" and Will just lowers his head trudges back into the studio.

God I hope so.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Think of the possibilities had the Bunnymen picked someone other than Noel Burke after Ian departed. Would there be less disappointment? I'm afraid the "flowing fountain of creative inspiration" coming from the band with its new release is the best we can hope for. It's better than nothing, and certainly better than the alternative.
