Sums it up about right Dave, apart from the self-sympathy of the Liverpool fans, just 4 years after killing 39 Juventus fans at Heysel.

I'm not a Manc by the way.

Liverpool due to a cock up by the police had a hundred fans crushed to death at a football match but the press/police have covered up the truth hence the huge sense of misjustice. Also a great football team but not as recently succesful as ManU.

Thanks. I suspect that isn't the most objective description, so I will need more fact-finding before choosing sides.

There's not really a side to pick, unless you're actually talking football. Liverpool were great in the eighties, but have struggled since the formation of the Premier League, where they have been in United's shadow ever since.

In fact today United have equalled Liverpool's title record, and will probably go on to beat it next year. And if we're being honest, if you take Gerrard out of the Liverpool side, they're not even the best team on Merseyside.

Yes, I hear Liverpool Reserves are also quite good.

I just want to get this straight - you can't use your hands in soccer, right?

Only if you're a goal keeper, or Argentinian.

... and to score a goal the ball has to cross the line - unless you're English.

No, you are a cretinous Woolly Back. Not even Mancs make comments such as your ill informed drivel (apart from about the football, since when has equalling a record and having less European Cups been described as putting another team in their shadow?).

It isnt self pity that drives the likes of the Anfield service / single / charity match - its anger. Anger at the cover up and anger at the press. Its a shame that pie muching, wippet owning ignorant pricks like Crystal Days are still quoting "facts" that have been refuted time and time again.

As for Heysel. If Crystal Days Mummy ever let him go and see football games in the late 70's / early 80's he would have seen that hooliganism was rife in the game at that point and, in fact, there were far worse teams than Liverpool. I have been legged by stanley knife wielding fans the length and breadth of the UK (Leeds being a particular near miss I never want to go through again, all because I was staying with a mate as oppose to getting the train home with the other away fans). Heysel was an accident waiting to happen and, whilst not trying to excuse those Liverpool fans on the night, any English Team playing in that game may have experienced the same outcome. That was the game then (when it was frequented by the working class) - a few beers, a game of footy, a big ruck. Unemployment was over 3 million at the time.

But, tucked up in bed with your Dandy and a glass of warm milk, you probably missed all that.

Now go back to reading the Mail on Sunday and let the adults continue the conversation.

Mac's still a twat though.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

I have no idea what that means, sir, but it seems very negative to me.

"in fact, there were far worse teams than Liverpool"

The death count of 135 in two games makes that a questionable statement.

"since when has equalling a record and having less European Cups been described as putting another team in their shadow?"

Come on, let's talk about recent history, how long since a league title?

Scouser calling me cretinous, wow. I am a Woolly back though.

So, based on your encyclopedic knowledge of football and football culture, you are contesting that the Leeds, Millwall, West Ham and Chelsea fans of the early 80's were all lovely blokes?
