'Think I Need It Too' due out on July 14?

Echo And The Bunnymen release The Fountain later this year with single Think I Needed Two due out on July 14 -

Is this going to happen? That was part of a news story circulated last April. I am assuming not.

I've googled numerous key words and there is almost nothing about the Bunnymen on the net. That's pretty bad. I mean a new album coming out and one article about Oxegen.

Poor guys really need a promoter.

Some people seem to have heard it:

You are assuming correct (re. have Warners dropped the Bunnymen?). Given that currently that Mac is now proposing Jan 2009 as a release date for "The Fountain", a month or so before hand is more likely. Wish there was some clarification over the label position though and the band's plans over the single and album. Hope it doesn't become the album that never was.

Someone will release it. Siberia's sales weren't that bad, were they?
I got the feeling that with Hugh Jones on board expectations for an album s ground breaking as the first four albums were filling the label. It is a good album, but did not produce the reaction expected.

August no. One month or so before the album release would be normal. References to the album's release most recent in this article:

The Fountain Jan 2009

"Moving swiftly on before Ian turns festival-goers green with envy, there is the forthcoming matter of The Fountain, the band's imminent 11th studio album. "I'm not going to give the game away yet, but this one is very unusual," he teases. "If we manage to pull this off, it will be the first time anyone has done this sort of thing. Right now, we're thinking about early January. We want to focus on the Ocean Rain shows this year. Rather than sideline the new stuff, I'd rather go into the New Year with proper new shows."

And the Will interview that was in Brazilian online article (don't have the link at hand) where he said that we don't have a record label at the moment but might release it ourselves or something. I believe that it was discussed at length on the other forum.

Yeah, I think they'll find someone else to release it. An ideal label might be something like the UK's Invisble Hands Music (Thomas Dolby, Hugh Cornwell, Mick Karn among others). They just did Hugh Cornwell's new album -- offered as a free download with a full CD version available afterwards complete with DVD. That'd make an impressive package if it was "The Fountain" on CD together with the Royal Albert Hall DVD in one boxed set. Might not be a major, but better than nothing.

If the band releases an album with even one song matching any of their best songs from the first four (Killing Moon, Crocodiles, the list could include every track on those albums) - word of mouth will take care of promotion for them.

imho.

Fingers crossed.

i hope it gets released SOMETIME. i really liked "think i need it too" on the bbc radio program... and epic (now called something else) was alright live in liverpool last christmas... i think they need some good promotion and advertising, and someone working to get the info out there. not just for the loyal fanbase (us) to get some coherent news but to hopefully, maybe get some new listeners too. it's frustrating to have to google search everything and come up with a whole lot of maybes. they deserve better.

i realize they don't want to confuse the ocean rain gigs with a new "fountain tour" (i hope there is one!!) but with the hype surrounding a royal albert hall sellout, you'd think releasing the album around then would boost sales quite a bit.

rant over

People have lost all concept of what a rant is. In my day, a real rant made you scroll down 3 or 4 pages while you were relentlessly bombarded by spittle-flecked ravings in all-caps.

Slightly off topic but according to an NME article on the Bunnymen's slot at T in the Park they played "King Of Your Castle". Is this not a song of the Macless Reverberation? Me thinks, it's a typo and was meant to be "Thy Kingdom Come" unless Mac has started singing Echo & The Bogusmen songs to mix up the usual setlist.

Good review of Bunnymen performance
