It’s really time for me to give it up.

What are they doing acting as a support act, I hardly think that James fans will be converted to Bunny fans or increase sales

At the sound Island festival where James were the headliners, there did not appear to be much interest in band apart from the Bunnymen fans themselves.
They should give it up with dignity. I find it quite tragic that they have almost become a tribute act to themselves.

It’s unlikely that the Bunnymen will record any new material in the near future

My kids recently brought me an Ipod. This was a perfect opportunity to store all the bunnymen material in one place. A couple of months ago I was fortunate to take a little trip abroad. So with Ipod in hand and to kill time at the airport I began listing to the Bunnymen back catalogue (Albums, Singles, Bsides, Electrafixion, Solo....).

It was quite strange because I found myself skipping lots of the songs. They just didn’t seem to be doing it for me.

My be after nearly 35 years I’ve just outgrown it all, I’m not even inclined to buy a ticket

But to be fair Its not just the Bunnymen I've lost intrest in. The big "50" is just around the corner, and things that were so important to me have no value or meaning anymore.

Is this what they call a mid life crisis.

as i was reading that KOK i started thinking, oo er midlife crisis, haha. you'll be fine old chap!!!
As for james, I expect its a guarranteed pay day, so why not. plus they might pick up a bit of interest. PLus no responsibility but to turn up. Wont be going cos i've no inclinationn to see james whatsoever and being a bit of a tight git i'm not going just to see the support band, whose setlist i could write down now. Off to see the wedding present tonight. 15quid. sorted.

They could have played Liverpool, surely?
Purveyor of the 'semi-predictable one-liner (which) embodies the essence of the type of comedic crap we grew to love here. VB is a crazy fool'

King of Kings, I am in the same boat as you. I am going over to L'pool from the States, have bought a ticket for the Dec show but I might just give it away the night of. Give the show a miss.

Dave Smith, I saw your post and was glad someone mentioned that actually in the same way you did. I think you are right though, that they still have a strong fan base in spots but I honestly think mgmt still blows. It's the old mgmt that I speak of. They are useless. (Not speaking of Ian's new one)

VB, yeah that's a real F You to their home city. Very bizarre but not surprising, eh?
Was looking at the twitter post and replies from Larry. What a saddo asking for people to post the news on social networks. I'm sure if they were interested, they would! Just looks so bad.

On my mgmt comment, they didn't even have the balls to ask for a Co-headline spot which is still the same thing as opening but doesn't sound nearly as bad. And to be called 'special guests' of JAMES is depressing. If they were to be 'special guests' of anyone, I reckon it would be someone in the class of The Stones. (Not saying they'd do or get that, just making a point.) This deal had to have started in the North. They are only taking what lands in their lap. No effort.

Sorry to tell you this news but a support band no matter who they are will get paid nothing. They support the headline act for exposure.

As PW once sang "Its tragic"

Most of the time a support band even has to pay to be on the same bill.

As to KOK comments he is totally correct. The Bunnymen are old hack and Ian & Wills solo stuff is shit. They need to listen as to what the kids are releasing. The Ian & Will music is not clever or challenging, its just the same old fucking shit.
