Ocean Rain Not Important Gil?

I guess the kids and new bands aren't looking to the Bunnymen if Ocean Rain's lack of mention on Norton's homepage is any indication. there is a picture of it. Kind of.

Mentioning the Counting Crows and not Echo????

That was 20+ years ago. He has "Current and Recent" work and the "Past Work" which is "coming soon" http://www.gilnorton.com/past.htm

Yeah that's been coming soon for quite awhile. And Throwing Muses and the Pixies were only a few years after OceanRain.

Don't give me your grand rationalizations young man.

I see the pixies on the main page. You said there was "kind of" a pic of Ocean Rain", I don't even see that.

I think we should get a sack of doorknobs and go on over to his house and teach him about respect.

Oh yeah I see it.

The Pixies aren't on his recent list either but I've got some old doorknobs to contribute anyway.

Well at least he has the sense to have the Pixies on the main page. I don't know know if I mentioned this but Frank Black/Black Francis is the greatest artist of all time. Closely followed by the Bunnymen.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

I wonder how that train of thought went down. Gil Norton to Laurie Latham?

Shit I thought you WERE Frank Black because of the interest in UFO's that are also in many of his songs! So you are just some schmuck posting here under his moniker???

I am a very big Pixies fan as well. Doolittle is one of my all time favorite albums.

No it's really me and I appreciate your support of Doolittle. Please support my solo albums and get the forum to do so as well. That would be super!

There's not that many UFO references in my songs.

Or as I told the Blogcritics:

"What UFO references? There may be a couple, but far fewer than rock journalists have led you to believe."

When I was in a band I thought I wrote good songs .. when I heard Doolittle the first time I thought "Jesus - there is no way I will ever get to this level" -- about 6 months later I left the band " It is only recently that I have started writing again ...

Even today when I listen to it I am transported to that first time sitting on a coach going down to Waterford listening to Doolittle on a walkman ( tape Cassette). I still can't get over some of the arrangements and how those songs go. .. sheer perfection ... I love wave of mutilation

Maybe we should start a Pixies thread.

Debaser came up on shuffle on my ipod the other day. It was bliss. I just love his lyrics so simple and so insane. If you see them in print it just looks silly, the delivery makes it work. Probably why you don't really hear any Pixies covers.
