Cover of The Killing Moon

Postby T|P » Tue Feb 07, 2012 5:20 am

I'm aware that posting about your own band on here is probably frowned upon, but I'm assuming in this instance it's OK as it is fairly Bunnymen relevant. If not, feel free to delete/move. But yeah, my band did a cheeky cover of The Killing Moon the other day, if anyone fancies giving it a listen:

It's also up for free download on our FB bandpage Facebook bandpage if ya like it.

That goes on often T|P, so no it won't be frowned on. There's quite a few Bunnymen-inspired musicians on here, some that have done covers, some that haven't.

Bunnymen should have a competition for the best cover. The winner gets, erm, a copy of The Killing Moon. I go for the "psychobilly" version:

Didn't they do a competition on FB for worst cover a while ago?

I like it - it sounds like Fred Schnieder from the B-52s singing with one of those bands that does video game music.! very cool

That was the ill-fated "humiliate your remaining fans" campaign.

I have a friend who said his band from several years ago did a cover of Killing Moon as well. He said he would find me a recording of it and forgot. I should pester him again for it!

Ha, now that you mention it, it really is. Hadn't noticed that before. Cheers for listening everyone anyway, it's much appreciated. I've not heard many killing moon covers, i only know the Pavement one, and the guy out of Grammatics used to do an acoustic cover sometimes when they played live, i don't know if they ever recorded it though. That psychobilly cover's ace.

Ooooo just stumbled across this Nouvelle Vague cover. Never heard of them before, it's really good Her voice is like the noise a chocolate cake would make if it could talk.

There's quite a few, mostly live covers though. That Lopez one was the last one I found on you tubes recently. Nobody seems to change it radically much though, which I suppose is the strength of the original song. There's these two recorded versions:

And this crazy one...
