Life Of A Thousand Crimes is released tomorrow, but its a bit of a strange one to be honest.

The reason there is a download single with no B.Side is to keep the Bunnymen on the radio over the holiday period.

Radio stations will play a track of a album more if it is marketed as a single, so thats what the Bunnymen have done with this. Yes its a single but not a single as we all know.

There will be no promotion behind it, its purely to keep the buzz around the new album on the radio and thats whats happened.

hope that makes sense...

That is pure genius!

Let's release a single that is NOT a single but we will tell no one!

If I'm reading this right, there will be no reason to buy it since it will be the same thing that was released on the album (which assumes one has bought the album).

And there is no B-side.

Yippee! I just saved 99 cents!

It is a bit farcical. Keep up there at the back.

Let's get this right. It's not a single at all, but is pretending to be the new single for radio play. You can't buy it as a "single" on any website or as a MP3 single with any artwork depicting it as a single (as with TINIT) but you can buy it individually on MP3 as one of the ten tracks that make up the Fountain... just as you can buy any of the songs from the album individually.

On that basis, I have decided Everlasting Neverendless is the new single. It's actually a MP3 EP with track two Forgotten Fields or Do You Know Who I Am?, Shroud of Turin, Life of A Thousand Crimes, The Fountain, or.... Track 3 and 4 is Forgotten Fields, Do You Know Who I Am?, Shroud of Turin, Life of A Thousand Crimes, The Fountain, or....

I declare that Proxy is the new single!

If Life of a Thousand Cwimes is a single in name only, why did they make a big announcement last month(?) that the new single was being released Jan. 4? Another case of poor/no communication within the camp?

Is XFM considered mainstream? They had been playing I Think I Need It Too on there.

I was thinking UK mainstream ie Radio1 & 2 and the commercial stations. I've no idea what passes for mainstream in the US.

Yeah, me too. XFM is out of the UK. Mainstream here in North Carolina is really bad. There is a half-decent alternative mainstream in Chicago where I used to live, but not here. You have the party music station, the country station, the classic rock station and the R&B/Hip Hop station. The college station is the only thing worth listening to, but they usually stick to indie bands. They may sprinkle in some classic Pixies or Bauhaus once in awhile, but that's about it.

How dare you sir

Can't say I've heard ANY Bunnymen on the terrestrial airwaves of L.A. since they pulled the plug on Indie 103 last year.

LA radio went to hell when KROQ stopped being remotely innovative and interesting. Loveline every night??

What happened? Did good music end or did they just stop promoting it? I've heard more about interesting bands from joining this site than from the radio.

Come to think of it, what happened was that hip hop took over literally everything.

It's really stupid. Part of the way they now measure "singles" is by downloads. Who is going to download it? Perhaps some of the people who only got the free single? I don't know.
