New album?

Has anyone heard what's happening about another album? Hopefully Mac and Will are still able to work together but it doesn't sound too promising from Will's interviews. I thought Brussels is Haunted wasn't bad for a later period Bunnymen song.

It was finished 2 years ago but Will refused to discuss it on his book promotion tour at the end of last year so who knows what’s happening with it. I think one of the official social media accounts said a few months ago it was due "later this year" but I’m not holding my breath.

Hopes were high with the promise of 'something new' being announced at 10am this morning - but it was just a release of What Are You Going To Do With Your Life? on vinyl and double CD.

I feel like their material since Siberia has been pretty subpar. Do we need a new album of forgettable songs?

I'm a big fan of What Are You Going To Do With Your Life?, so I'm good there. I've always said that it's a great collection of songs and the last time I think Mac's voice soared. Rust is one of the most beautiful songs ever IMO. I'm really surprised it even got the vinyl treatment since Will hates it in part due to his minimal input. Les also left the band at that time and was only on one track, so it has bad Bunnymen mojo associated with it.

I think it’s pretty telling that Will hasn’t mentioned the release at all on his Twitter account.

I've always liked it as an album, but not as a Bunnymen album. For me, it was the first solo Mac album under the Bunnymen name with Will on guitar, the same being applicable to Siberia (to an extent), The Fountain, Meteorites and the re-imagined The Stars, The Oceans...

Also, I used to be a bastard for a coloured vinyl but nowadays it's got a little boring for me with absolutely everyone rereleasing stuff on different coloured wax at extortionate prices. I used to be something of a completist when it came to the Bunnymen back in the day but it's all gone a bit nuts now.

And hello again everyone! I hope you are all well! Hi boss, was the site down for a while or was my laptop playing up? You were missed.

Yeah, the site had some problems originating from my hosting company. I have no idea how long it was down since I don't check in very often. The forum doesn't get much traffic anymore now that social media has taken over the world. All the other sections are pretty much obsolete too since Discogs, ultimate-guitar.com, YouTube, and Wiki have all grown. I'm not sure anyone would even notice if I pulled the plug tomorrow but right now it doesn't cost any money to keep it running.

Thank you boss. I take your point about the profusion of social media sites, but VT has always been a breath of fresh air compared to other Bunnymen-related sites and social media due it's distinct lack of arse-licking.
