Albert

Pleasantly surprised.

A very clean crisp well produced set.

Nothing post Siberia however (Now that tells a story)

The softer versions work well in a live context except for me the Cutter was drained of Life.

The new song How far has all the hall marks of a Classic and a staple Bunnymen diet.

Good lighting for a change although Will and the rest of the Bunnymen did seem a bid subdued.

Mac looked lean and young returning to his 2000 Image. Short hair and fitted leather jacket.

A good evening all told

Has anyone come across any links to published reviews from their RAH performance?

Excellent night at the RAH, Mac was looking very smart, cool and healthy, really enjoyed the new versions, especially Angels & Devils, agree the Cutter not so good, great crowd

That's encouraging news. There is a complete version on Youtube and it doesn't sound great. It's off a phone so it's hard to make much of it.

I wonder if the master video recording of the 1983 show is somewhere? I'm assuming they filmed the entire show and then edited it down to under an hour for TV. Come on Bunnymen, dig out the recording and flog it, I'd be happy to pay for a dvd that has the entire concert. Leave in Ian's banter too.

They need to do that with so many of their shows...Just came across this recording of their Glasto performance in '85. Choppy in parts but better than not having it.

Definitely seen that Glastonbury video a few times. But it's obviously a bootleg. The video is terrible, though the audio is fortunately pretty good. As a fan bootleg, I don't think the Bunnymen can release it. And as far as I know, that concert wasn't recorded by the band or TV. The Albert show was professionally recorded. Those who know can provide the details but I understand it was recorded by a TV channel (BBC?) and aired in UK and some European countries. Therefore if it was saved--there should be a master recording that can be restored for a DVD. But who knows--maybe it was lost or not saved. I'm guessing there may be rights issues to be cleared too.

No, i didn't mean they would make that video available. I have pristine audio of their Glastonbury performance. But, this video in its imperfect state still gives you some idea of what it was like. Especially since most photos are even worse. There's no better documentation of 'dancey' Mac and the constant buzzing!

They're well within their right to. It's their music, after all. The person who recorded it gets a credit, but that's all they're entitled to.

Killing Joke officially "released" some bootlegs a number of years ago, like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REJRP6uTTdU

As you can see, this one was semi professionally filmed so it worked well as a commercial release. It depends on how scarce the footage is and how high the demand is for it.

I didn't mean not release in terms of rights but more in terms of quality. If it's the same quality as what's on Youtube, I'm not sure the point of a DVD release. But the complete Albert Hall show from 1983 with professional audio and video? That's something you can package and sell. Same applies to the Crystal Days concert--let's see all three sets that were performed.

This is another good bootleg with fantastic audio--pity the video isn't as good. You get some dancey Ian here. And that voice.

It can be cleaned up to a certain degree, but some bands will use the disclaimer "although not in great quality, it's rarity justifies its inclusion" or words to that effect.

Could have been a strapline for The Fountain,
