MAC covers MACCA on new tribute album

Postby redgumball » Sat Sep 13, 2014 3:47 am

It sounds like we might have another MAC cover to enjoy. Don't soften it up shorty.

"A long-in-the-works Paul McCartney tribute album finally arrives this November, and the first track to debut from The Art of McCartney is a rather faithful cover of The Beatles’ “Hello Goodbye” performed by The Cure with Sir Paul’s son James McCartney assisting on keyboards — the full performance of which you can see below (via The Guardian).

The Cure’s involvement in the project was first announced in 2011, and the standard-edition 34-song tribute finally arrives Nov. 17. The record also features covers performed by Bob Dylan, Chrissie Hynde, KISS, Perry Farrell, Brian Wilson, Roger Daltrey and more (see full tracklist).

A deluxe box set of the project also includes a Robert Smith solo cover of the Wings song “C Moon” (and Ian McCulloch covering The Beatles’ “For No One”)." -- SOURCE: Slicing Up Eyeballs; USA Today

I would like to see the Bunnymen cover "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)" by David Bowie. Fitting for the Bunnymen...

wonder if mac's gutted he didn't make the cut - or that he's elated he's only for the rich kids and uber fans. More interested in this one because I suppse its playfully odd and because I remember my older sister buying the wings double a wit hthis an hi hi hi. When I say remember, dont ask me the date, though i remember hi hi hi was banned wasnn'ty it. macca talks dirty. oh dear.

Ian made the cut. His track is exclusively available in the USA via Best Buy only. Multiple versions of the album available from multiple stores, sites, etc. came out the 18th. Does anyone have the track or has anyone heard it yet?

Great singing but the backing ? This track could easily fit on a frank side bottom tribute too lol

Wow super brutal. Vocals sung hungover from a bender and some really poor backing music. I reckon he sang on a tape and they merged it in. No wonder it made the bargain bin at Best Buy. Thanks for the share!
