Bad experience ?

Just had a bad experience while shopping at Belk's - heard a horrible cover version of the Killing Moon - Anyone know who it was? Did they/he have to get Bunnymen permission to re-record? Shocked.

There have been several covers of Killing Moon that are listed here, if you click the links some take you to Amazon or whatever where you can listen to a sample:

Do you remember anything more about it? Was it a male or female singer?

As far as permission to record and release a cover version, I think you just need permission of the music publisher, which as far as I know in the Bunnymen's case is Warner. The music publisher will make money when people cover it on a recording so it's in their financial interest to agree. At least this is how I understand it.

Was the music emanating from the PA system of the aforementioned retail store or was it, perchance, being channelled through the voicebox of an underfed but intoxicated soap-dodger sitting on an unwashed duvet whilst accompanied by a mangy looking Heinz 57 variety mongrel in front of a baseball cap containing a selection of low denomination coins and a couple of beer bottle tops?

It's interesting. He can sing and all, I just hate choppy phrases. The way Mac sang it originally was superawesome. None other.

No, at least what you describe might have mustered a little soul...

NEVER, NEVER, cover a song unless you and everyone you know is SURE it's a whole lot better or at least just as good. Like Jimi Hendrix - All ALong the Watchtower. That's how good a cover should be.

Well, actually plagiarism is when you pass off someone else's work as your own. In this case, there are royalties to be paid.

I still want Nouvelle Vague to die in a fiery place crash.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Wojo... the "ignore user" button doesn't work very well when other careless users quote the aforementioned ignored user (who's still acting like a knowitall cunt, I see). Please refrain in the future from quoting the one person on this forum I've chosen to ignore.

Thank you and good day.

It is not happy

It is not sad

It is " the " song.
