Echo & The Buynnymen are not a BAND

They are a PRODUCT

A Product who want to release "Pop Music" for the Masses

Sorry boys you've missed the boat, better catch a plane, better still a Time Machine.

Any band selling music is a product. Let's not be bitter about that. Now, being told you should like the the new product and kiss off for liking the old one - well . . . .

They're too old, the name of the band screams 1980's, the "pop" music they've come up with, on the face of it, is shite, the music press don't care about them any more, the radio stations don't play them any more, the record buying public are mostly ignorant of them with no sign of that changing due to the aforementioned reasons and there are 101 young bands doing what they are trying to do but doing it with more aplomb and energy.

I.E. IT'S TOO LATE!!

yeah but theres that one in a million chance that for some reason one of those little tunes catches the american imagination and just does it....... i mean youre probably right but you know, the magic of showbiz, the roar of the greasepaint and all that. they could be a thirty year overnight success. those four tour dates might well - be the ones that break the camel, of america's, back etc etc. ok ok i'm a bit delerious now so i'll go and have a nap....

I completely understand that the band is their business and that they should make as much money as possible. In fact, I never understood why they always seemed to piss away opportunity.

What bothers me is that they don't seem to understand how VERY VERY lucky they are to have the fans that they have.

With this "all we have are a band of old hardcore fans" attitude, they are guaranteed to end up with nothing.

The loyalty of an emo kid's weird uncle down in the basement (BF) to some 25 year old band with a weird name is better marketing than anything else the band has done.

I wonder, though, if no one wants to hear the old moody stuff, why are they still milking the OR thang?

I'm trying to believe that the basic message/sentiment was garbled by someone who has a hard time spelling and thinks that working for free and/or backstage passes is just fine. It is surprising that after all of these years they discovered the concept of a business plan.
