No. It has made it more accessible. You can find music that you'd never dreamed of finding before. What's more, anyone can now record music if they want to and get it out to the masses.

Forums and blogs allow people to discuss, assasinate or praise music. It gives a bit more power to the people (ie. the ones who actually buy the music), which was previously only the preserve of music journalists. Reading a record review in a music magazine and deciding to buy or not buy it purely on the words of a music journo no longer happens. If we all listened to some of these music journalists without the Internet, we'd all be fans of the Ting Tings. Now that would be shocking!

Yes. Used to have to search for music, get dubs, listen to distant radio stations, read magazines and go to shows to see the band.

Now you can google to see videos, hear music and read reviews. The mystery is gone.

Or~ we are over 21 so the mystery would eb gone regardless?

I moved to an apartment within walking/staggering distance of a half dozen music venues about three years ago. Part of my reason for this was to loop back into the 'scene'. I've gone to maybe 10 club-sized shows since then - two of those were Gutter Twins, two of those were BRMC. I've gone to 3 arena shows in that same period...and I bought tickets for another half-dozen club gigs that I decided not to attend on the night of the event.

Aside from the BRMC & GT shows, I enjoyed the arena shows better than the club gigs. At club gigs, I tend to drink more, and feel shittier the next morning. Arena shows are more about the music (luxury box seats don't hurt either - thank you, work). I also find that I am a L-O-T older than the attendees at most small club shows.

I will say most of the artists I have gone to see over the last decade - I learned about the bands / gigs on the internet. The web hasn't ruined things for me. It's a good way for an old timer to discover new music without looking like the creepy old guy in the sea of nubile young bodies at a club gig.
