Why is Ocean Rain such an impossibly great album?

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

No, the real REAL question is what am I going to do with my Black Lotus and Ancestral Recall?

The real question then is what to do with my David Copperfield at Caesar's Palace tickets?

You wear a cup my friend. Copperfield likes to get touchy feely in the sexually harrassing way. And do not go to his private island!
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Ocean Rain

All hands on deck at dawn! Many things make this album great and the lyrics contribute hugely to the package. Optimism, drama, emotion, narrative, this collection of words has the lot. One thing that is puzzling me though, is that line in Seven Seas that says "Burning the Witches with Mother Religious" It is a bit ambiguous isn't it? The problem is the word "with" because it could mean "by-means-of" or "along-side" So, the question is: do the Witches and Mother Religious get burned up together? Or does Mother Religious burn the Witches? I wanted to throw this question open to everyone but I am new to The Bunnymen Underground and I couldn't find how to post a public question. Kind Regards, tobytom.

Thanks for joining! New members have to post to a few existing topics before starting a new one.

I think it's just clever wordplay myself and meant to be ambiguous and can mean either depending on the listeners point of view. I think a lot of his early lyrics are abstract like this. Oddly, the Chris Adams book does not have any information, quotes or commentary from Ian himself about this song.
