What's the "news"?

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

You're looking at the watch? That's as gay as 80's Mac.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

The Furs must have finally listened to fans/got tired of fan complaints about their perennial set list. They've apparently rejiggered it for their tour this summer, to plenty of hurrahs. The Bunnymen could do the same thing. Be brave, Mac and Will. Delve deep into the songbook.

Sounds like Will is totally into doing that (at least a few years ago based on some interviews). Mac seems to only want to go with "greatest hits". Will was pushing for All I Want and With a Hip during the reissues tour, said they worked on them during rehearsals and were rocking. Mac axed them b/c he didn't like the lyrics anymore.
You remember that poll they had on NME.com several years back where everyone could vote for what songs the wanted to hear live. Several ppl wanted Happy Death Men and Pics on my wall, Mac immediately said no. He did say they'd consider No Dark Things.........yeah right, never heard of them playing it since the 80's.

I guess they won't be opting for the Total Request Live tack that X is taking on their tour this summer either. Too bad.

What about a Heaven Up Here live set? Playing the Ocean Rain set meant playing songs which hadn't been heard live for many years. For me, Heaven Up Here as a unit is their most cohesive album, but very few of the songs are in the live set these days. In the first set on Ocean Rain night in Liverpool, Zimbo was the only HUH track played. I'm sure I've read somewhere that the Bunnymen regarded it as the best time they had recording an album. Perhaps revisiting it in full would reignite something, especially if they could get Mr Pattinson onboard. And I'll put my order in now for a £30 signed CD/DVD of the occasion.

apparently mac doesn't like his voice or the words on all that stuff any more - which might be interpreted as.... oh well you know. were they doing with a hip the other year? Something or otherand that was pretty good. i'd stump up for it though. though much of what mac says in interviews doesn't stand up to scrutiny of what they do live anyway.

though i bought my oxford tickets yesterday - it was great, paid in cash and they didn't charge me the bastard because we can additional handling charge. Though the lady in the office did have to look at her gig sheet to try and work out who i was talking about - never goes away that one. maybe by dec 12 they will be doing this set followed by the new album in its entirity. whatever you waaaaaant etc. ace.
