koko review in NME

Postby fat cherry » Thu May 07, 2009 6:09 am

short review in this weeks NME. DIdn't buy it so just the gist of it from memory. A side piece headlined something about zimmer frames, including reviews of buns, Wire and The Fall. Most complimentary thing is something about failthfully churning out the hits and the only new thing is one of the faithful throwing up after a long day drinking (not you KOK was it?). The reviews of the other two bands much more positive and something about at least some bands managing to be cutting edge in old age. wonder if they've been reading this site?

Found this on the NME website:

"Wire's headline rivals Echo And The Bunnymen played last-on at Koko, taking to the stage slightly later than their 10pm billing.

Frontman Ian McCulloch wore his trademark black coat and shades, leading the band through renditions of fan favourites including 'The Killing Moon', 'Lips Like Sugar' and 'Seven Seas' in front of the huge crowd, who rammed out the multi-tier venue.

The band also played 'Think I Need It To' – a song set to appear on the band’s next album that showcases a searing riff and euphoric chorus."

Not the most indepth review I've ever seen.

I guess we were all wrong about "Think I Need It Too"
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

My own opinion is that when Think I Need it Too is released as a single, up and down the country all people will be singing or dancing to "Whatever you want, whatever you need, Think I Need it Too". It'll be like "Disco 2000" by Pulp... Agadoo or The Birdy Song.

Snap!
Every word is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness.

Hey I like Disco 2000 and Jack farting.
