when did MAC stopped playing guitars for the bunnymen

someone may have asked this already... sorry if I missed the thread..

I was watching their official vids on dvd (the one that came with the best of)
...even in the Lips like Sugar he's got acoustic guitar strapped on his back... he looks good with the guitar... does anyone know why he stopped playing guitar during live sets?

He stopped playing guitar live during Electrafixtion I remember seeing them when they supported The Boo Radleys and they had drafted in a second guitarist to allow Mac to concentrate on singing.

Although he still does not play guitar live with The Bunnymen, he does still play guitar in his live solo shows...........
